Sunny Pointe is owned and operated by John & Sue Ann Spiker, natives of Jane Lew, West Virginia. They purchased the farm in 1978 and began farming. With the farm, their family, and other responsibilities, the guest house was neglected. It had actually gotten so run down that they considered storing hay in it! Instead, they started the six year renovation of the house in 1999.
Sunny Pointe wasn’t officially opened as a guest house until 2007, when John & Sue Ann noticed that there was such an interest in the peace and tranquility that Sunny Pointe offers. They just thought of it as “home”.
John is a veterinarian, auctioneer, farmer & jack-of-all trades. He enjoys raising the chickens in the lot connected to the guesthouse and making fresh maple syrup off the farm. Ask him about it and you just might find some on the front porch at some point during your stay.
Sue Ann was an art teacher and all around “handy woman.” Don’t be surprised to see her in one of her many arguments with a weed eater, playing with one of her six grandchildren or off riding her horse, Stonewall, during your stay.
